MegaCAD 3D is the ideal synthesis of an innovative solid and surface modeling system and a full-feature 2D drafting program. If you are developing your model in 3D or if you are drawing a 2D design, each step will automatically be transferred from one dimension into the other one.
In MegaCAD 3D, the user has a powerful solid modeling system. In addition, any designs can be wholly or partly implemented in the surface modeler. Because they share a common data structure, the two forms of model can be combined. This makes it possible, for example, to trim a solid object with a complex free-form surface, to give the solid a new shape. Conversely, the surface of a solid body can be isolated as a separate surface.

Easy to learn

Learning MegaCAD is easy. Due to its intuitive interface, even beginners will achieve professional results in just a few days. This will also benefit the occasional user who will be able to acquire the necessary skills quickly and efficiently with the minimum amount of training.

Intelligent user prompts

MegaCAD has a self-explanatory and context sensitive user interface which can, if required, be individually customized and stored in one or more user profiles. For each menu item, an explanatory note can be directly called up. Intelligent management routines ensure that the display only ever shows the menus which are meaningful or necessary for the current work step. Simultaneous use of a keyboard and a mouse make it quick and efficient to work with.

Parametric Design

All drawings which were completed in MegaCAD can be partly or completely defined as parametric where non-defined dimensions will be seen as constants. Geometric relations can also be automatically identified. MegaCAD uses dimensions instead of a programming language to define parts. The built-in intelligence automatically infers rules about tangency, perpendicularity and symmetry. It does not require any programming knowledge.

Hardware and software recommendation

Operating systems

MegaCAD 2010 was designed for Windows XP Professional SP3, Windows Vista SP2 and Windows 7. MegaCAD can be used with the respective 64-bit version, but works in 32bit mode here, too. Considering the all in all very limited driver support, we recommend to operate MegaCAD with Windows XP Professional x64.

Graphic cards

For small (and medium-size) projects, graphic cards like ATI Radeon HD 4xxx and NVIDIA GeForce 9xxx are also suitable. For users with highly sophisticated demands, we recommend the purchase of a NVIDIA Quadro FX 580 or a NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800 graphic card from PNY or an ATI FirePro V3750 and/or ATI FireGL V5700. MegaCAD 2010 benefits from the advanced OpenGL features found in midrange and high-end graphic cards.

PCs and notebooks with so-called onboard graphics, i.e. without an independent graphic card and without their own graphics memory (shared memory) are (with a few exceptions) not suitable for use with MegaCAD 2010.
