Nursed back to health by a mysterious benefactor (chairman of the Knight Industries), he regains consciousness a new man with a new face and a new name: Michael Knight. His mysterious benefactor (through the guise of associate Devon Miles) provides Michael with equipment and support so that he can continue his crime fighting work. The most notable piece of equipment supplied, is "KITT", a high-performance sports car fitted with artificial intelligence. Pilot. In reality, he survives and learns that his face has been altered and his identity has been changed to Michael Knight. The man responsible for this is Wilton Knight, a dying billionaire who, convinced that one man can make a difference, has selected Michael for the role as a crime-fighter. Knight of the Phoenix 2 Now armed with an advanced prototype car called KITT, which has the equivalent armor of a battle tank, capable of speeds over 300 MPH, and contains an artificial intelligence computer personality as an aide, Michael agrees to perform his assigned role.
