| | | Experiencing Windows Vista Service Pack 1 BetaWritten by Pánisz Péter kedd, 25 szeptember 2007Today Microsoft is releasing the Beta of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 which was announced by Nick White few weeks ago. I'd like to take the opportunity to share my very own experiences with Windows Vista SP1 Beta running on several PCs of my own. I decided to test SP1 on a variety of hardware which allows me to test a variety of scenarios:
* Desktop PC (Custom-made) running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. * Laptop (HP tx1000) running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

| | | Intel EM64T Technology ExplainedIntel has released their “64-bit technology” in order to compete with AMD’s 64-bit technology. This technology, officially called EM64T (Extended Memory 64 Technology), is present on all Pentium 4 6xx models, on Pentium 4 5x1 models (like 541, 551, 561, and so on) and also on Celeron D 3x1 and 3x6 models (331, 336, 341, 346 and so on). This shows us that Intel will add this technology to all new CPU that they will launch now on. In this article we will explain what is this technology and how it works.

| | | 64 Bit-Computing Moves to the ForeThe move to 64-bit computing has been hyped for years now. As we head into 2008, the hype may have died down, but the reality is starting to sink in for IT shops: move away from the 32-bit town, and into the 64-bit city, or get left behind.
This is especially true for businesses that are predominantly Microsoft-based. Slowly but surely, Microsoft is weaning customers away from pre-64-bit environments, first on the server side, but also on the desktop.
The loudest announcement of this shift came when Microsoft rolled out Exchange Server 2007. Released in late 2006 to business customers, Exchange 2007 runs only on 64-bit versions of Windows Server -- both Windows Server 2003 and the upcoming Windows Server 2008. It was Microsoft's first-ever 64-bit only product.

| | | All Opteron ModelsOpteron is the AMD processor targeted to the server market. The first Opteron processors were based on AMD64 architecture (a.k.a. x86-64 or “hammer”), the same one used by other CPUs from AMD, like Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64 X2, Turion 64 and Sempron (socket 462 Sempron models aren’t based on this architecture, however). Most recent Opteron processors are based on the new AMD K10 microarchitecture. In this tutorial we will present Opteron’s main features and also several tables listing all models released to date.
The main feature of AMD64 and K10 architectures is the memory controller, which is embedded in the processor itself and not located on the chipset like all other CPUs.
Because of this architecture the communication between the CPU and the memory modules is done thru a dedicated memory bus, while the communication between the CPU and the chipset uses a separated bus, HyperTransport
