I got the Idea for this torrent when I stumbled upon Jonathan Harnum's 'Basic Music Theory, How to Read, Write and Understand Music' while browsing my favortie newsgroup (a.b.sheet.music). I swept the usenets uncritically for every ebook I could find relating to the subject, weeded out the dupes and fakes, and wrapped it up. I haven't read even a percentage of it yet, so don't blame me if some of it's crap. I have skimmed quite a few of them, and there are great lessons to be had even for advanced academics; read Schoenberg's Fundamentals only if you are in a daring mood.

In the summer of 1940, hoping to emulate Hitler in Western Europe, Mussolini aimed to conquer North Africa, only to be routed by far smaller British and Commonwealth forces that drove out the invaders and captured the entire Italian Tenth Army. Are you tired of the same 7 year old programming book collection being shared over and over again? Are you tired of the horrible quality of those books? Are you tired of having to wade through ridiculously useless books like career guides from 2005 just to get the few gems?
Me too so I did something about it.

For some years I have been exposed to 'molecular gastronomy' in high end restaurants. At home, I am a dedicated and exploratory cook who tries to please my family while also showing them 'something new' from time to time. I look at books like the 'Fat Duck' out of general interest but also to look behind the 'restaurant' recipes for new tools and techniques that I can translate for home cooking. Blumenthal's book can be read in this way with profit: he presents a lucid review of equipment and of kitchen chemistry (that really just expands on familiar items like pectin, gelatine, cornstarch and arrowroot), using some less familiar but equally processed substances.
